From Hype to Help: A practical, Safe introduction of Chat GPT and other AI tools for Healthcare Professionals

Bright Med Community

An Exclusive Free Webinar for Bright Med Members:

ChatGPT, Copilot and Claude are already sitting on your desktop, but almost nobody in clinical practice has had proper guidance on using them well, or safely. This session cuts through the hype. You'll leave with a working understanding of how these tools actually think, where they go wrong, and how to put them to use on the admin tasks eating into your day, without putting patient data or clinical judgement at risk.

Led by Alberto Barea, Consultant Nurse in Dermatology and Founder of Bright Med Education, this is a non-technical session built for dermatology and wider healthcare teams. No coding. No jargon. Just a practical toolkit you can use tomorrow.

What you'll learn

  • How large language models actually work, in plain terms, and why that explains both their power and their failures

  • What causes AI "hallucinations", and the two biggest levers you control to cut that risk: which model you use and how you prompt it

  • A side-by-side comparison of ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Gemini, and which to pick depending on your organisation and workflow

  • The non-negotiable UK data protection rules: what must never go into a public AI tool, and why the clinician always signs off the final output

  • How to set up and personalise an AI tool so it works like a briefed member of your admin team, not a stranger you re-explain yourself to every time

  • Worked, ready-to-use examples built around real dermatology scenarios: turning meeting transcripts into minutes, drafting medication-start checklists, writing patient information leaflets, summarising clinical notes, and replying to routine emails

Who it's for

Dermatology consultants, registrars, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals, and anyone in a clinical or admin role who wants to reclaim time from paperwork without losing control of it.

The problem this solves

Time-and-motion studies show clinicians spend close to two hours on admin and desk work for every hour with a patient. Used properly, AI can hand back some of that time. Used carelessly, it introduces new risks. This session shows you exactly where that line sits.

Thursday 13 August, 6pm, via Zoom. The joining link will be sent to registered attendees two weeks before the event.
