About the event
Want to add a drug to your local Formulary?

Why does the same drug reach one patient and not another, just because of their postcode? This webinar tackles that question head on, taking the audience through the full journey a medicine makes from licensing to the patient's hands, and the very different routes it can travel in England and in Scotland.
Two experienced specialist pharmacists, Sylwia Michlewska (Lead Clinical Pharmacist, NHS Lothian, Edinburgh) and Ivnit Kaur Bagga (Lead Specialist Pharmacist for Dermatology, University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust), compare notes on how their respective systems work. Using dermatology examples throughout — including biologics, JAK-inhibitors, and unlicensed treatments such as spironolactone for acne — they unpack the role of NICE, how Integrated Care Boards and groups decide what gets funded, and why approval by a national body is only the first of several hurdles before a patient can actually start treatment.
